So I Guess the FOCA Is Off The Table Then?

Date February 5, 2009

Apparently, Barack Obama believes that God does not condone the killing of innocent life.

President Obama, moments ago, during the National Prayer Breakfast: “We know there is no God who condones the killing of an innocent human being.”

Hey! Maybe all those prayers for the conversion of his soul worked! Maybe he finally noticed that abortion is probably wrong, and that all of his votes of “present” when the issue of the negligent homicide of recently born but not particularly wanted babies came up were really quite callous, and he’s committing himself to upholding the sanctity of life and making such action a priority of his Presidency?

Or maybe he’s shamelessly pandering to a bunch of people whose intelligence he’s underestimated for reasons that are, quite frankly, inexplicable, and totally lacking foresight?

Yeah, thought so.

P.S. There’s actually a fantastic site created in opposition to the Freedom of Choice Act called “What the FOCA?.” Not only do I love the operation because its a cause that’s obviously near and dear to my heart but because finally…FINALLY…someone in the pro-life movement realized that their message was totally irrelevant to anyone born after the year their websites were designed, 1995, and decided to tailor their campaign to the culture by co-opting something just about anyone under the age of 30 is familiar with.

It makes me sooooo happy.

And that’s just one more reason we like you. Really, we do.

A conversion would truely be a wonderful thing to have Obama go through on many levels.

I’ve always been a bit offended by the term ‘unwanted’ being used when talking about a pregnancy or a child. Unwanted by who? There are long lines of people waiting patiently for years, hoping to adopt a child. Abortion rubs salt into many wounds, not the least of which is people that can’t have children of their own.

Sadly, if Obama were to have such a conversion, he’d find himself under attack by the very group that elected him. I’m afraid they’d squash him like a bug.

That’s a really odd way of putting it. Maybe it’s lawyerese. I would have said

“We know that God does not condone the killing of an innocent human being.”

But that version would imply that Obama actually believes in God, while #1 can be liberally interpreted by his atheist friends that he does not.

And it makes a great sound byte:

Obama: “We know there is no God”.

But, as Morrisey sais over at Hot Air, how does he explain his many many votes in support of early, middle, late, and post-partum abortion?

I have to wonder what the guy who whispers answers in his ear at press conferences would say.

(In case you miss the reference:
    From the Washington Times:

    Obama’s outrageous oversight

“White House Counsel Greg Craig, often seen whispering in the president’s ear during question periods…”

Here’s a happy thought: That guy is an Obama-whisperer.
