The Obama Infomercial

Date October 29, 2008

I’ll be honest, the last time someone stole portions of my Wednesday night television viewing, they were trying to sell me the WonderMop and it didn’t work. In fact, nothing that people buy large blocks of television time to sell works. Not OxyClean, not the WonderMop, not those spiky dryer balls, not those veggie bags, and definitely not those stupid knives. And don’t even get me started on the exercise programs.

Not to mention, part of it will be live. So it will kind of be a mix between an As Seen on TV ad campaign and one of those Home Shopping Network specials where they cut to a celebrity who is demonstrating the product on an unwilling-looking model.

This is a bad precedent to set for future campaigns. At some point, they’re just going to raise enough money to purchase all of the airtime on a major network for the two days leading up to the election. Then, they’ll compete. Then, they’ll get their own 24-7 networks. Then, Fahrenheit 451, but by then, we’ll be glad to watch our informational materials burn. At least that would be one less medium they could use to contact us about the finer points of their tax policies.

For now, we’re just lucky enough to have Joe Biden.

I remember Perot doing something like this in 1992 - he bought a couple of nights worth. Changed more than a few minds, I think. Obama has ben great with stagecraft so I doubt it’s going to be infomercial quality, at least as far as production value goes

They already did. They are called Foxnews for the republicans and everything else for the democrats.

Hang in there, only a few days left and it will all be over. I am not so sure that all of the News outlets swing left. They were considered part of a right wing conspiracy when Clinton literally got caught with his pants down. Journalists can’t help themselves when they find blood in the water and there is a lot of blood in the water.

You got to remember Obama is a Chicago politician. Chicago was built on crooked politicians, dirty lawyers, and gangsters. I always saw Chicago like Louisiana where corruption was a way of life. If there were real dirt somebody should of found it by now. Maybe that is why they are dazzled because there is no dirt on him. That is unheard of in Chicago.

Obama has run an one of a kind campaign. Agree or disagree, you have to admire how he has managed this race. Here’s hoping he runs the country as well.

Obama is not in there yet but you’re right no matter how you feel about his policies he is a real gentleman. I don’t think McCain, with his temperment, would of never handled the personal attacks with the grace he has.

Obama got his own DirecTV channel he’s been broadcasting on for a couple months now.
