I Have An Obligation
September 12, 2008
To apologize on behalf of my entire gender. I’m sorry. You have no idea how sorry.
Honestly, the thing that angered me the most, other than the just the sheer act of watching The View, which practically makes me gouge holes into the heels of my hands with my fingernails and grate my teeth loudly, and will one day drive me to impale myself on a high heel, is the last couple of comments before John McCain walked off: Barbara Walters welcomed Sarah Palin onto the show (please, in the name of all that is holy, say “n.”), indicating to McCain that they “wouldn’t ask her any hard questions” like she had the IQ of a bookshelf and as though the ladies of The View, were the Harvard educational collective. That’s clearly untrue. Just let Whoopi explain the Separation of Church and State.
If these ladies weren’t the Justice League of women’s television, I’d swear McCain had made a drastic mistake subjecting himself to the bathroom chatter of high school girls, but frankly, if his target is women who think with more than their hairspray, this has to be a plus. None of us could, in good conscience, allow the View to be our formative resource. And yeah, I’m in a really positive mood right now because I know that’s not true. A great deal of my gender watches Gossip Girl.
We’re doomed.

Heh. Frankly, the women of the view are an embarrassment to your sex. Ironically, they provide ample justification for overt sexism. Thankfully, I’ve encountered women who aren’t, um, “boobs” for lack of a better term; otherwise, I’d probably be a real misogynist.

Another reason why I do not watch television of any type. I shouldn’t be surprised but I am. Every damn time.

Justice League? More like the Legion of Dumb…

It was a pretty atrocious interview, and a pretty atrocious show. I hate it when they all start chattering at once and the poor interviewee ends up looking back and forth, not knowing which brilliant question to tackle first.
Even Walters, who is an intelligent and legendary interviewer, asked some really stupid questions.
It’s a shame that so many women around the country rely on this garbage for “news” and “thoughtful analysis.”

Does she “have to worry about being a slave again?”
When was Whoopi ever a slave before?
(I checked the audio. Yeah, she said “again,” although some media outlets are leaving that last word off in reporting it.) And Whoopi has about as much first-hand knowledge of what it’s like to be a slave as Leona Helmsley did.

Whoopi Goldberg is an embarrassment to her trade, her nation, and her sex. It’s not all about her being “in the bag” for the other side. Everyone’s “in the bag” for something. It’s about her complete lack of standards and dignity. My beloved calls it a lack of class. She has none, at least when it comes to dealing with her political adversaries.
Keep up the great work, E. M.

Below is the comment I sent to The View. The PUMAs bombarded them with emails.
I stopped watching The View a while ago because of JOY’s PantOnFire comments and
her rolling eyes every time Elizabeth speaks. She is disrespectful and not funny. Just
because someone doesn’t have the same views as she does, doesn’t mean she has to mock
them.
I watched today because of John McCain’s appearance. Both Whoppi and Joy were so
obnoxious with their stupid comments and questions.. They should grow up and act like
adult women.
As a Hillary supporter, this media chauvinism toward Palin justifies my vote for McCain.
And, when I vote for McCain, I will not have to hold my nose. I will think of JOY and
her lies and enjoy it.

You’re not apologizing for women everywhere. I thought they were awesome. I am grateful for those feisty women pointing out the blatant lies that too many seem content to ignore.
I notice there’s no response here to the challenges they leveled - just personal attacks on the women who made them.
Don’t pretend to speak for women everywhere. I’ll speak for myself, thank you. The View courageously called a spade a spade and did it with a lot more class than the McCain campaign has shown since Gov. Palin joined the ticket.

Is that what you call that, “feisty”? I’d hate to see disrespectful and rude, then.

please don’t ever compare The View to Gossip Girl. Gossip Girl doesn’t deserve that.

Not to start an intense discussion about Gossip Girl, but I suspect I agree. I do tend to like Gossip Girl, or at least what I have seen of it. I LOVE the clothes.
