All I Can Say Is…

Date September 3, 2008

Sarah Palin KICKED ASS! Brilliant! I love her MORE now, if that were possible. Almost enough to do the Chris Crocker video.

One of the things I especially loved — she said things in such a way that it resonated with me, but not in such a way that I felt overwhelmed with the politics of it all. She was just powerful. She followed her speech up with such commanding presence, and she stared down her enemies, she gave the speech and she just wowed the crowd. It was quite historic.

Even PBS thinks so. In Chicago. Now THAT’S proof.

UPDATE I: CNN cannot stop saying how good the speech was. Wolf Blitzer just asked whether Obama made a huge mistake in picking Biden. The liberals on Twitter are freaking out. This is such a proud moment. I feel so, so….Its just great. Thank you, Sarah, for proving that I was RIGHT.

UPDATE II: Obama’s reaction: the speech was “written by George Bush’s speechwriters”…yawn.

UPDATE III: Tom Brokaw was on Olberman’s show laughing about how stupid “Troopergate” is. This is a great night.

UPDATE IV: Panic in the camp! Panic in the camp!

UPDATE V: To quote a text from a friend of mine…”This ain’t your daddy’s culture war, f#@$ers. Welcome to the next generation.”

UPDATE IV: Dear Lord, she winged her speech?!? So much for the “written by Bush” crap.

And speaking of the speech, here’s some of the highlights:

Outstanding! Yes, “written by someone else” (a sure clue that she hit it) delivered naturally, and most important, sincerely. I’m pumped for the first time in far too many months…

Her speech has got to have the Obama camp trying to do damage control like the crew of the Titanic. I look forward to seeing her give Joe Biden such a beat down that he’ll only be able to use his own words to describe it.

    And Now, Damage Control

The MSNBC lefties are scrambling to cover for the wounded and bleeding Obama campaign. Olbermann is desperately trying to sound like Cronkite and sounds more like a middle aged man in a young man’s clothes who can’t believe that the girl at the bar j…

I love the “Bush’s speechwriter” line. I think people are smart enough to figure out that speechwriters write speeches, not make policy. It just sounds desperate.

Sarah Palin kicked ass. She sounded just like the confident, successful women I know, and that’s going to resonate well with America.

I could have done without the mean, but all in all, not bad. She’ll make a pretty good candidate in ‘12 or ‘16.

Breaking news on Palin: She is on the front page of the new National Enquirer with “Affair that Nearly Ruined her Career” - and you remember how right they were about Edwards? Oh and trooper-gate gets some ink also, and the Washington Post is running some trooper-gate details tomorrow.

I think what I find most charming about Sarah Palin is that despite all the this-isn’t-your-daddy’s-Republican-party-anymore vibe, she is, by and large, a traditional conservative. She’s committed to an old fashioned view of the world which, in this utterly backwards era, manages to seem fresh. Frankly, it’s about time we all stand athwart history yelling stop and send that empty-suit on the left packing.

Holy cow…. Apparently the teleprompter broke.

    She delivered that from MEMORY.

    Saracuda!

What I saw last night was probably the single best speech I have ever witnessed!Sara Palin mean?Hell yeah and she deserved to be for the gruff the left has thrown at her unfairly this week. What we saw was a small town girl who really identifies with everyday Americans go from a nobody(in the eyes of lefties)to a true superstar in the new age of American politics. They will say ‘oh yes she did good but she has no experience’ & ‘it’s still the same of what we have with old time politics’ well guess what America, we just saw the future in a women who doesn’t just talk a good game she plays it like no one I’ve seen before. The Dem’s have a serious reformer to deal with and she is one of us.She is saying exactly what all Americans have been wanting to say for years but had no way to express it.Sara IS what the left and right consider to be the American dream and I am so proud to be witnessing it right before my eyes.Girls, see all you have to do is stand up and be counted cause you CAN be and do anything you want in this country and I for one am looking forward in seeing more women come into the fold of American politics. SARA PALIN IS ALL THAT & A BAG A CHIPS!!!!!As far as the meaness goes, hey they were the ones who decided to play the game this way,it’s not my fault that the left brought a knife to a gun fight…..

    M-F,

While NE is right some of the time (e.g. the Edwards Scandal), it is also still the place of UFO sightings and apocalypse warnings. I think people will take that headline with a grain of salt. As far as Troopergate… So what? Say the worst they are saying is true (which its not), in the end so what. She was still within her right to let the guy go. Its clutching at straws.

Sarah Barracuda was definitely out last night. I still have a glow on my face. She took the Obama team out behind the woodshed and gave ‘em a good whoopin’!

I watched CNN, PBS and MSNBC after the speech to get their reactions and while initially very good, they started to pooh-pooh the speech as time went on bringing up speechwriters, etc. Of course ignoring the fact that the rhetorical messiah has speechwriters as well. The liberal media types will continue to try and write her off to their own detriment. In a few weeks she’ll take good ol’ Joe behind the woodshed at the VP debate as well.

I like what Charles Kruthammer said last night on FOX. Rudy and Sarah didn’t just give out some red-meat, they slaughtered a calf on the stage. Maybe it was a caribou…

That National Enquirer story…does this mean that the Republicans are going after the Bill Clinton/JFK fans now?

My big complaint with the Republican party is that I have been having a hard time connecting with them - I’ve feel as if the party left me behind (or something along those lines) All of that changed with Sarah last night.

I have no doubt the world took pause to notice but will she be enough to bring the voters back?

  16. E. M. Zanotti said:

Yeah, M-F…in addition to that “breaking news” there’s also a “breaking defamation lawsuit” in response.

  17. Maurice said:

Saracuda totally kicked ass last night! That sound you hear on the left is the sound of millions of Obots losing their minds and gnashing their teeth in frustration, and it sounds like victory!

Oh, and the NE story has a single source which they admit is a dem operative who’s a political enemy of Palin’s and has actually told them his mission is to “drag her through the mud and ruin her” so not sure how accurate it is, but hey YMMV.

  18. M-F said:

National Enquirer damn near never loses a lawsuit. And lawsuits brought by political figures have extra high hurdles. The lawsuit is a joke and I guarantee you they will not win one thin dime from the NE.

Quite frankly, I don’t think the affair is such a big deal. I do think trooper-gate is a HUGE deal because, if true, it is a clear abuse of power. The fact that some people would overlook criminal acts just because they like the person’s party sends shivers down my spine. That attitude is one step away from fascism, whether on the Dem or republican side it is the beginning of the end if we let abuse of power slide.

  19. Richard in NY said:

The trooper in question, in addition to the death threats and tasering, was still harassing the Palins in public as recently as this summer. I think he should have been fired too, and anyone who refused to fire him in the face of such grievous misconduct should be out the door as well.

Does he get a pass just because he harassing the governors family?

  20. E. M. Zanotti said:

Tom Brokaw was actually laughing about Troopergate last night on Olberman. Talk about a mountain out of a molehill. Amateurs.

  21. McGehee said:

Maybe Brokaw just didn’t get the memo (faxed from that Kinko’s in Abilene).

  22. eL Kabong said:

Libs are now using the National Enquirer as the Oracle of Delphi? Life is just too good. Pinch me! Isn’t that the same rag with “Bat Boy” and pictures of Satan in burned French Toast? When you have that, who needs Kos?

  23. E. M. Zanotti said:

That would be the Globe and it is sadly out of print. The National Enquirer is the rag that the Democrats ignored for months as nothing more than trash when it posted photographs of John Edwards with his mistress and possible love child.

  24. M-F said:

So the Dems did the wrong thing by ignoring the Edwards scandal. Now it is the turn of the Republicans to ignore the truth? Oh, that makes it okay. Just politics as usual I guess. Is Larry Craig still getting a lot of support? Honestly, how on one hand you can be all for family values and good government, and on the other hand overlook the worst offenses when it is your own party is beyond me.
