Its A Great and Effective Slogan
July 23, 2008
People are always hassling me to blog about crazy stuff that happens to me on a daily basis (and it always seems to happen to me), so I figure, hell. Why not give them what they want? Plus, I have often considered using the blog to blow off some angst related to public transportation. Green living sucks. Freaking hippies.
Anyway, this morning, I was happily walking along, ignoring the homeless people like they weren’t there as a true conservative is expected to do, when I noticed something that obliterated my previously low expectations of panhandlers. One bum at Franklin and Pierce had a sign I had to reward with booze money. It read:
“Obama is campaigning for change, and so am I.”
Rock on, homeless dude. Rock. On.

What no picture? No youtube?
The least the bum could have done is allow us to exploit his image for political gain!

You think conservatives ignore homeless people?!? Maybe where you live, but that’s not how we were raised. Try this trick next time: Instead of just handing out cash, try taking a homeless person to lunch. Many times, you’ll get refused. Makes you wonder just how “homeless” they really are. But the times you get taken up on the offer can be priceless insights into your community.
Maybe you should re-think conservatism.

Um, its a JOKE. Its satire…a play on what I believe to be the common misconception about conservatives and their beliefs? Jeebus H…I can’t get a break around here.
There are a lot of homeless people around here, and as many agencies that actively work to assist them. Panhandling on the streets in a tourist town is a pretty good gig if you can get it, and they don’t do too badly, particularly when the org comes around that gives them the lefty newspapers to sell. Read the piece for its observation, not its philosophical insight.

[...] E.M. Zanotti found a homeless guy aping the Obama campaign line. Do remember that both are campaigning for your change. [...]

I saw a better one. The bums sign read “I won’t lie to you, I just want a beer!” LOL

A bum who is up on today’s political campaign slogans deserves it. Good move E.M.

My question as the only right thinking person in the great universe and the most smartests, even smarter than the Marxist Herald Leader, is:
If this was a real conservative, how come the capitalist pig did not steal the beggar’s cup and change, kick him to the curb, stomp him on the head while he lay defenseless and demand he get a job?
All us rich conservatives are taking a beating in the mortgage market (I had to sell my yacht to pay off my house in Cancun) after we kicked this bum out of his house it would only be fair to have a good trickle down beating for such a lazy lout. So where is the Marxist McClatchy Herald Leader slant on this story? Somebody at the corner of east main and newspaper hell is slipping in their reporting of the left wing news curious Kentucky minds need to know.

Horrors, I am so sorry for what I said about that bum begging in the streets with an Obama sign. I just discovered he is worth millions. The bailout money went to him and he is getting government aid for a new cup and even a seat to sit and beg in. They are working on a flashing neon light to advertise his destitution and draw more contributions in.
This guy is worth more than David Rockefeller. His begging is more profitable than investing or working one’s butt off. I tip my hat to the beggar and by carbon of this email to the beggar asking for an assistant position on his street corner. Who said government handout programs don’t work? Check out that guys yacht.
