What’s The Angle?

Huckabee wants to be viewed as a populist — a true southern homeboy — and thats apparent from recent statements that he will, say, shove a flag pole up the rear of anyone who threatens to take down South Carolina’s state flag (which features the colors and design of the old Confederate flag):
â€South Carolina people know true conservatism when they see it.You don’t like people outside the state telling you how you ought to raise your kids, you don’t like people from outside the state telling you what to do with the flag,†Huckabee said during a rally at a Myrtle beach airport hangar. “In fact, if somebody came down to Arkansas and told us what to do with our flag, we’d tell’ em where to put the pole.â€
But what does Huckabee gain by admitting to Joe Scarborough that, back in college, he trapped squirrels and fried them in a popcorn machine?

That could be a pander to the secular portion of the hillbilly vote (as opposed to the HillBill vote) </humor_flat>

He is obviously aiming for the future-serial-killer vote.

It explains a lot, actually. He’s given himself Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

When I was young, we used to hunt, fry, and eat squirrel in Michigan. For some reason, that has evolved to lightly sautéed in wine, olive oil, and garlic and served in mushroom gravy. There’s a restaurant out by Elgin, IL and another one in the Bear Mountain ski area in upstate NY that have it on the menu. They call it Rockefeller Squirrel.
